Vintage Vinyl Record Elton John Your Song Melody 1987 "Your Song" is a song by British singer Elton John. He wrote it to the verses of Bernie Taupin. It was first released on Elton John's 1970 album Elton John. In October 1970, the song was released in the US as the B-side of the "Take Me to the Pilot" single. Both songs began to be aired on the radio, but the disc jockeys liked "Your Song" more, so then the "A" and "B" sides on the single were changed. The song ended up reaching the top ten in both the UK and the US. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Elton John's "Your Song" number 136 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In the 2011 list, the song is in 137th place. In addition, Elton John's "Your Song" is included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll list.
